Let’s start effecting change through our economic power!
Black women are very influential economically, so I’m gonna need y’all to start using that economic power to effect change in society. Unfortunately, it is your black sons and daughters that are in danger of being lynched by the police, the prison system, the justice system and corporate America. I’m gonna need you to shift your focus from brand loyalty, to boycott loyalty. Let’s make sure these brands that black women are loyal to recognize their buying power. I’m proud of the fact that black women are holding down the black community, but it shouldn’t be that way. The men are no longer leading, so the women are forced to lead, which is unfair from a household and leadership standpoint for our young children. Too many black boys and girls have no idea what it’s like to see a man lead a family.
I don’t wanna hear about what black men aren’t doing. This blog is about the change black women can effect in white society with their buying power. It is sad and unfortunate that so many black women are single mothers, but a great percentage of black female business owners are married. They are not single mothers. Still, whether married or single, Black women should recognize they have always been the backbone of the black community, because the decapitation and castration of the black man has been ongoing for centuries now. There must be some form of an alliance created with black women and their black sons and black men, in order for society to start viewing black men in a different light. In addition, black women should put more of an effort to remove themselves from brand loyalty, because they are also raising their children to be loyal to companies that don’t give a shit about their plight. We shouldn’t be loyal to anybody but our own community and families. We must shift it around enough, so that every brand can continue to fight for your business, and respect you and your children as consumers and decent human beings. Black people are loyal to a fault, and they will promote even racist designers who don’t want shit to do with black people. We must pay attention and stay alert, so that we’re not helping them build and strengthening white supremacy and supremacist brands that will impact the livelihood of our children negatively.
Facebook, Amazon, and all the retailers that black folks cater to, are aware of their spending habits and shopping habits. We cater to them, they don’t cater to us. We must force them to cater to us, because our integrity is all we have for now. We must learn to use our economic power to dethrone white supremacy. As a business owner for the last 15 years or so, I always make sure that I hire black people first. I’m not being prejudice, but if I, as a black man, don’t help build the black economy and community to make them stronger, who will? That state of mind is where change begins. For every dollar that is circulated or recycled in the black community, it empowers all of us as a community. Whenever money is funneled outside to the Jewish, Italian, Asian or some other community, the black middle class will continue to deteriorate. I’d rather help a black family pay to send their child to Howard University, instead of financially assisting a Jewish or Asian family to send their children to Harvard.
Being completely black is a state of mind that most black people can’t adhere to, but if we don’t start adhering to it, the blight will continue and our plight will be endless.
